I grew up in Richmond, Indiana, a working-class town where both of my parents worked in education. Their belief that people make better decisions once they truly understand something shaped the career I’ve built. I started with Edward Jones in 2005. In 2018, I became an independent, fiduciary advisor, so my advice is guided solely by what’s right for my clients. Most of my days now come back to what my parents did for a living: taking something complicated and making it plain, so the people I work with can see their options clearly and understand where their choices lead.
I think of my role as your guide more than anything else. Every situation is different, but the worries underneath tend to rhyme—and I’ve covered this ground enough times to know where the footing gets tricky.
Away from the office, you’ll usually find me traveling, hiking, or golfing with my partner Denise and my three sons: Andrew, Grady, and Brooks, and chances are one of us has a football game on. We’re also steadily making our way through the national parks, a little past halfway now. Community involvement is important to me as well. I’m a current member and past president of the Glendale-Kirkwood Kiwanis Chapter, a previous board member of the St. Louis chapter of the Foundation for Children with Cancer, and a coach to several of my kids’ youth sports teams over the years.
